Mission

One To World creates global citizens and inspires a peaceful world through one-of-a-kind programs in classrooms and communities.

Description

One To World brings future leaders from around the world together with Americans - one to one - sharing similarities and appreciating differences to build cultural understanding across the globe.

We believe world peace begins when individuals from different cultures exchange perspectives, face to face, in an open and engaging forum.

One To World is designated by the U.S. Department of State as the official coordinator of Fulbright enrichment programs in the greater New York area. In addition to working with Fulbright grantees, One To World promotes connections with the 65,000 self-sponsored international students studying in the greater New York area.

These outstanding representatives of their countries have much to teach us, and much to gain from knowing us better. By offering a constant stream of meaningful face-to-face interactions in American homes, schools, businesses, and institutions, One To World creates goodwill, peaceful interactions, and mutual understanding across borders.

Program Highlights

Fulbright Enrichment Programs

Through One To World, Fulbright grantees meet New Yorkers, explore American institutions “behind the scenes,” visit local neighborhoods, and learn about facets of U.S. culture and society they might not otherwise encounter.

Global Classroom

One To World-trained students and scholars from all over the globe make curriculum-based presentations on their home countries to students in New York City public schools. (Global Classroom featured in the Huffington Post)

Community Visits

International students experience American home hospitality in diverse urban, suburban, and rural settings through weekend and holiday visits arranged by One To World.

Foreign Affairs Conferences

One To World organizes delegations of international students to attend foreign affairs conferences at U.S. military academies where they contribute unique perspectives on world issues and foreign policy.

Campus-to-Careers

One To World helps international students and scholars gain insight on their future careers through employment workshops and one-on-one visits with local professionals.

Professional Network Meetings

New York area international education professionals meet monthly for issue-oriented discussions sponsored by One To World.

Publications

Funding

One To World is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, which depends, in part, on core support from the U.S. Department of State, and on financial contributions from corporations, foundations, and individuals. Earned revenue from program and membership fees, publication sales, and Global Classroom provides the balance.
