Global Careers & Education |

One To World’s Global Careers and Education provides New York City public high school students with the motivation and tools they need to successfully apply to institutions of higher education and build their careers. The program responds to the specific challenges and opportunities that exist for a public school system serving students from a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds and aims to provide students with mentorship that accurately reflects that diversity.
Through Global Careers and Education, international university students and Fulbright scholars lead classroom discussions and activities that promote college education and career development. The program incorporates tours of university campuses led by international students and scholars, and includes meetings with admissions officers, financial aid counselors, and study abroad advisors.
One To World is delighted to be partnering with Manhattan International High School and Newcomers High School to offer Global Careers and Education to approximately 140 high school students. All participating high school students have recently immigrated to the United States and are learning English as a second language as they prepare to graduate from high school. Their international mentors share the experience of adapting to a different culture and studying through a second language, while attending a range of New York area universities and successfully pursuing diverse careers.
Global Careers and Education is a new component of One To World’s flagship in-school program, Global Classroom, and has been made possible, in part, through support from the Genesis Foundation.
