Improvisation Workshop & Comedy Show

Event Details

Date: 05/13/18 Cost: $25 Time: 6:30 PM Location: Manhattan

Are you looking for a uniquely New York evening of spontaneity and comedy? Join us for a fun and dynamic workshop at Theatre Row to learn the basics of improvisation! Improvisation (also called "improv")is a theater technique where the performance has no script and is made up by the performers as the show progresses. It is commonly used as a professional tool by companies and schools to help improve communication skills for all people!

The two-hour workshop will be led by a consultant from Epic Theatre Ensemble, who has appeared in off-Broadway shows and has worked with students and professionals. We will focus on simple techniques of improvisation that are applicable to everyday situations such as presenting, public speaking, networking and interviewing.

Following the workshop, we will attend an improv-comedy show at Upright Citizens Brigade Theater (UCB), a theater company founded by a group of comedians including
Amy Poehler and Matt Walsh, that is well-known for having trained many successful actors and celebrities. We will be attending UCB’s most popular show "ASSSCAT 3000", the funniest improv show with frequent special guests from various TV shows and movies. This performance is highly popular and usually requires standing in line for hours to get the tickets - that won't be necessary for our group! Celebrate the end of the semester with laughter and your fellow international students.
